The Arts
Music
This is a website that works kind of like the program "Finale Allegro." It allows you to write out music, using a drag and drop kind of style. You can also have the music played back, printed, or create a MIDI file. Some options are not available with a free account, but the basics are.
This is a download-and-install program, but it could be quite useful in any music classroom! This program is a free-to-use ear training tool. Like all freeware, there are some kinks and interfaces that can be confusing; however, this is the best ear-training freeware available for Windows.
This website has an advanced online metronome. The metronome has an easy-to-use interface; however, there are many articles on how to use this specific metronome and how to use a metronome, in general.
Art
This is a blogging site that is dedicated entirely to teaching art. This could be used as a resource in many different ways. It could also be used as a way for students to share their artwork.
This website has biographies and timelines for many artists throughout history. It also has some images of paintings by the artists.
This is a photo gallery showing many different paintings by artists throughout history. The galleries also contain links to the Wikipedia article about the artist.
This website is very cool. It allows you to create a Picasso painting by selecting certain tools and resizing, sending to the front and to the back, and rotating.
This website is not really as much of a teaching tool as it is just a cool artistic website to play around with. You can choose a couple of shapes, symbols, or icons and choose some filters to add to these images
