Now, we are going to add the movement of the circles to the document. You do this by creating a custom motion path, as follows:
(CLICK ON OBJECT) --> ANIMATIONS --> ADD ANIMATION --> (SCROLL DOWN TO) CUSTOM MOTION PATH --> (YOU CAN EITHER CLICK SOMEWHERE, AND THEN CLICK SOMEWHERE ELSE, OR CLICK AND HOLD, TO DRAW THE PATH) --> (DOUBLE CLICK WHEN FINISHED TO CLOSE THE PATH)
Here is what the slide now looks like:
I do not want the animation to look this way. I want it to start automatically when the slide starts up, and I want all of the circles to move at the same time. Here is how I make those changes:
ANIMATIONS --> ANIMATION PANE --> (THIS BRINGS UP A WINDOW TO THE LEFT THAT LISTS YOUR THREE ANIMATIONS) (CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE FIRST ANIMATION) --> START AFTER PREVIOUS (THE PREVIOUS ACTION BEING THE START OF THE SLIDE) --> (CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE SECOND ANIMATION) START WITH PREVIOUS (THIS MAKES THIS ANIMATION GO ON AT THE SAME TIME AS THE ANIMATION LISTED ABOVE IT IN THE ANIMATION PANE) --> (DO THE SAME WITH THE THIRD ANIMATION)

I also want the animation to repeat until the slide changes. I also want the circles to move at three different speeds. In order to that, I do the following:
(IN THE ANIMATION PANE, CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE FIRST ANIMATION LISTED) --> TIMING --> (NEXT TO DURATION, CHOOSE) VERY SLOW --> (NEXT TO REPEAT, CHOOSE) UNTIL END OF SLIDE --> (DO THE SAME FOR THE SECOND ANIMATION, BUT NEXT TO DURATION, CHOOSE) MEDIUM --> (DO THE SAME FOR THE THIRD ANIMATION, BUT NEXT TO DURATION, CHOOSE) VERY FAST
This is what the slide now looks like:
Now, I am going to make two links - one that starts the animation, when clicked, and another that makes the circles bounce away, when clicked. Also, both links are going to appear, one right after another, when the slide is started. This is done as follows:
INSERT --> TEXT BOX --> (TYPE IN "CLICK HERE FOR ANIMATION) --> (SELECT THE TEXT BOX) --> ANIMATIONS --> ADD ANIMATION --> (CHOOSE AN ENTRANCE ANIMATION TYPE) --> (IN THE ANIMATION PANE, CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE ANIMATION FOR THE TEXT BOX YOU JUST MADE) --> START AFTER PREVIOUS --> (REPEAT THE STEPS FOR ANOTHER TEXT BOX THAT SAYS "CLICK HERE TO STOP ANIMATION") --> (SELECT THE SECOND CIRCLE) --> ANIMATIONS --> ADD ANIMATION --> (CHOOSE "BOUNCE AWAY" UNDER THE EXIT ANIMATIONS) --> (DO THE SAME FOR THE THIRD CIRCLE --> (GO TO THE ANIMATIONS PANE AND DRAG ALL OF THE "EXIT" ANIMATIONS TO THE BOTTOM) --> (CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE FIRST OF THE EXIT ANIMATIONS) --> TIMING --> TRIGGER --> (CHOOSE THE "CLICK HERE TO STOP ANIMATION" TEXT BOX) --> (CLICK ON THE ARROW NEXT TO THE SECOND OF THE "EXIT" ANIMATIONS) --> START WITH PREVIOUS --> (DO THE SAME FOR THE THIRD OF THE "EXIT" ANIMATIONS)
You will need PowerPoint 2010 to create these animations, but, after they are created, you can use an earlier version to view them.
This tutorial is going to create an animation of three circles bouncing around inside a square, and then it will add the ability to click on a link to start the animation, and then the ability to click on a link to make the circles bounce away. I have already drawn a large rectangle, and three small circles, in my document, as shown below:
INSERT --> SHAPES --> RECTANGLE
